Gamer Over, 2006

Joystick, Pedestal, Vinyl letters
100" x 100" x 100"

Game Over is an installation that suggests the end of an era, the end of the videogame renaissance and family-oriented game consoles, such as the Atari 2600, Coleco, Amiga, etc. This time, no TVs or videogames take part of the work, only vinyl letters and a loose joystick on a pedestal, representing a virtual setup.

With Game Over I reflect on how the commodification and capitalization of gaming prompted the conclusion of the joy-stick times, forcing the industry to seclude not only an extraordinary technology, but also the human values that give meaning to the programming, production and distribution of any technology.
