20 Plexiglas Boxes with 20 concepts of white
5,2” x 8” x 8”

White on White on White is a modular sculpture made by 20 Plexiglas boxes introduced in a white rectangular Plexiglas parallelepiped that rests over 3 white Plexiglas flat squares. At the end of each box there is a concept of white taken from the dictionary.

Merhi examines the relationship between white as signifier and white as a signified. The artist was informed by the work of Kasimir Malevich and the conversion from atoms to bits of Nicholas Negroponte, but applying the inverse process. Hence, translating a previous digital work made in 2003 named WhiteonWhite.net, which can be accessed at http://www.whiteonwhite.net
